In France, it is named the "Encrier" meaning inkwell. The Lampe Berger Cube design, as it is called in the US, takes its inspiration, as you may have already guessed, from the compact designs of the antiquarian inkwell. It's a novel manner of preserving the aesthetics of a cultural artifact which is, suffice to say, no longer very extant. Of course, it also makes for a particularly convenient little fragrance lamp, readily nestled onto even the smallest nightstand or end-table. This version comes in a cool, crystal-clear look.
