z_Bill Doherty Prints
Bill Doherty has been making photographs since the early 1970s, when
his father gave him a used Zeiss Ikon, Contessa 35mm camera. That was
the beginning of a love affair with photography that continues today.
While his primary occupation is that of a CAD designer for an
architectural company in Raleigh, NC, Bill's abstract and photographic
work is exhibited in galleries in Raleigh and he and his work has been
featured in regional and national magazines. As a lifelong pipe
smoker, he melded his two loves in the creation of this series of pipe
prints, evocative of mid-20th century advertising, Pop art, 1930s
WPA-style works and other 20th century influences. Artistic grounding
aside, they're just really cool. Here's a picture of three in the
corner of Sykes' office, and three more hanging in our meeting room.
