Radice and Luciano Richmond Pre-Show Event
Newsletter Introduction for Thursday, October 3, 2013

       -Posted by dennis mann-

When I started here at Smokingpipes.com it was at the start of pipe show season. After a week on the job I was off to the Chicago pipe show. Well, five months later, we're getting close to closing out the show season with the West Coast Show fast approaching and the Richmond Show just over a week away. As we started preparing for Richmond, an opportunity arose to showcase some particularly unique pipes. The question was, when? Although pipe shows are special; pipe artisans and craftsmen coming together with pipe aficionados to be immersed in their hobby and passion, it occurred to us this showcase didn't have to be in Richmond; it could be an event that people across the country and world could take part in. With that, the idea of a Richmond Pre-Show was born. So, mark your calendar for the 9th of October and be the first to grab Radice Christmas pipes, as well as the all-new Luciano.

Luciano, a brand known for handsome, quality pipes as well as manageable prices, is undergoing an evolution of shape and design. We have the pleasure of sharing with you the first of these pipes. Each shape has undergone a shift towards the New Luciano aesthetic. All “New Luciano” will consist of four shapes, made of three-year-old seasoned Italian plateau briar. The addition of a long, narrow, eloquent bamboo shank, sets the new pipes apart from the traditional Italian pipes you may be accustomed to, however, I find them to have a truly attractive combination of shape, finish, accent, and presentation. Speaking of presentation, the New Luciano are accompanied by an attractive bag, as well as a data sheet unique to each pipe.

Let’s not forget Radice. We have the pleasure of launching this year’s Radice Christmas pipe. This attractive straight Apple with horn inlay comes in a number of classic Radice finishes and is accompanied by a horn and briar tamper in matching finish. We're not leaving it at that, though: with the launch of the Christmas pipe there will be a number of classic Radice pipes, and for the first 30 pipes sold during the event we will be throwing in a complimentary tamper.

So, whether you can stop by our storefront, Low Country Pipe and Cigar, or whether you'll be participating online, we hope you'll join us for the Richmond Pre-Show on October 9th to celebrate these beautiful new pipes, and get a great deal out of it in the process.

What's Fresh This Week?

       -Posted by kathryn-

Finally Friday! Happy weekend, TGIF, and other greetings reserved for this special day. Once again, it is time to fill you in on what you might have missed this week. Those of you who were enjoying Vegas for IPCPR probably missed a lot, and those who stayed to "hold down the fort" or work out the week like normal folk (myself included), will be happy to hear that our crew made it home from IPCPR safe and sound, and with lots of presents.

Instagram photo- pipes brought back from the Vegas trade show.

In other news, Monday's update featured pipes from Gian Maria Gamboni and Rad Davis, a few of which are still available (though, not for long now that I've said that). Here is just a fraction of the beautiful work our photography team created to highlight these pipes:

Also, thanks for the entertainment! We were able to filter the 48 submissions we received for our caption contest down to a winner and four finalists after putting them to a company-wide vote. The winner has already placed his order, with four FREE tins of Capstan added to it... to hear more about it, check out our blog from Wednesday, HERE.

Sales and promotions! There are so many going on right now, even we are having a hard time keeping track! Be sure to take a look at the following offers before they expire:

-Savinelli Clearance- 20% off select pipes

-Escudo Navy Deluxe- Buy-4-get-1-free

-Lane Limited- All bulk on sale until August

-CAO Cigars- free cigar cutter with select boxes

Lastly, yesterday's update featured one impeccably sandblasted beauty from Bruce Weaver, and five swirling stunners from Michal Novak, a few of which are still available. Once again, Chris and Katie in photography did quite a job capturing the character of these pipes:

This information, and much more has been shared throughout the week on our social media pages. Come join the conversation!

Special Castello Update
Newsletter Introduction for Wednesday, April 24, 2013

       -Posted by eric-

As previously indicated, today we're bringing you a special promotion. It's quite simple, really: We've acquired a whole, extra-large bunch of fresh Castellos for a live event to be held tomorrow at our brick & mortar, Low Country Pipe & Cigar, and an even larger number of Castello tobacco pouches (normally retailing at $70 a pop) to be given away with each Castello pipe purchased. Why more pouches than pipes? Because we aren't limiting the deal, nor the pipes themselves, to just those of you who happen to be able to stop by in Little River, SC -- that's why. Nope. Instead we're offering the same deal to all of our customers, wherever you may happen to be, and with the purchase of any new Castello pipe at that, not just those from the forty-eight specially acquired for said event. We're even extending the timeframe of the online offer as well, which will begin today and continue through the 30th of this month, while supplies last.

Who Could Have Guessed?
 The Peterson Pipe Promotion

       -Posted by sid-

Wow. Just wow. Our Peterson Pipe Promotion was wildly popular this yuletide. "Buy a new Peterson pipe and you get a free tin of Peterson pipe tobacco". Sounds like a deal to me. The aim was to keep this promotion running through the end of the year; however, with the unprecedented response to such a bargain I’m sorry to announce that we just shipped out our last tin of Peterson tobacco. It’s all gone. I know because I was there to see it get boxed up and handed to a UPS driver. It was a bittersweet moment that nearly had me moved to tears.

The fate of the promotion has since been decided in a nerve-wracking bout of rock-paper-scissors between Sykes and the Bizarro Sykes that we keep hidden in the attic with the model trains.

A decision has been made. (The winner of the contest is immaterial.)

Your choices are: Waccamaw, Cooper, Santee, Black and my personal favorite Carolina Christmas.

Happy New Year All!

And the September Giveaway Winner is...
 David R. from Ellettsville, IN!

       -Posted by alyson-

Congratulations go out to David R. for winning our September Giveaway. He won the awesome Urban Pipe Bag by Neil Flancbaum featured in our September 2nd blog post.

I just got off the phone with David and he was pretty shocked and excited about winning the contest from his (and I quote) "favorite online pipe and tobacco retailer".

We're pretty fond of you too, David.

Smokingpipes.com September Giveaway!

       -Posted by alyson-

So what happens when we have a meeting scheduled but nothing to talk about? We assume that there is nothing important going on, we need more work to do and we make some stuff up to keep ourselves amused. This is how we came up with “The Smokingpipes.com September Give Away”.

This month we are giving away an amazing leather pipe/messenger bag, the Urban Pipe Bag by Neil Flancbaum. This bag is made of high quality deer hide and has room for six or twelve pipes (in three pockets on each side of the interior), pockets for a lighter and pipe tool and tons of interior space for tobacco or anything else you may need to haul around. This bag retails for about $450 and, yes, we are giving it away for FREE!

There are two ways to win…

Every pipe purchase is automatically entered to win. Place an order for any pipe in the month of September and that’s it!

Alternatively you can also enter by mailing us a S.A.S.E to Smokingpipes.com September Give-Away, 2 Highway 90 East, Little River, SC 29566

The drawing will take place on October 10th, 2010 and the winner will be notified by phone, snail-mail or email.

Good Luck!
