OUR ESTATE PIPE PURCHASE POLICY:

Smokingpipes.com purchases pipes and pipe collections large and small.

PLEASE NOTE that we reserve the right to refuse any items for purchase consideration for any reason. We purchase pipes for 35-45% of the price we expect to recover when we sell the pipe, based on the current condition of the pipe and other factors, such as market conditions, our dealer status and current inventory. In other words, if a pipe has a current saleable value of $100, we offer $35-45 to purchase that pipe. All other costs associated with sale are incurred by us; there are no cleaning or listing fees. We pay upfront, once the values have been approved.

The only exception to this is with low-value estate pipes. Since we have fixed costs associated with cleaning and listing pipes, we reject pipes that we value at less than about $30. Between $30 and $60, we have a sliding percentage depending on the price. Beyond $60, regular percentages (35-45% for cash; 55% for trade) are used.

OUR ESTATE PIPE TRADE POLICY:

Our policy on accepting trades towards pipes or other merchandise offered at Smokingpipes.com is identical to the above, except that we offer 55% in trade credit. The majority of the estate pipes we list are offered to us as trades rather than for outright purchase.

NOTE:

In both circumstances, we submit the values to you before further action is taken so that you may elect to have us return the pipes, or portion thereof, should you consider the values unsatisfactory. However, we do not negotiate the values once we've assessed them, excepting situations where we have obviously erred (we do recognize that we are human, after all).
