Kai is the son of Viggo Nielsen, one of the masters of the first generation of the "Danish school", and learned the craft of artisan pipemaker at his hand. It's little surprise, then, that he is able to render the shaping of a classic Danish design like this simple, supple bent Billiard so beautifully. (It's hard to believe there's actually room for a 9mm filter in that slender, graceful shank and stem.) And then there's the grain - just look at it! So many other modern artisans would charge several times over the price for a piece like this.
