Preben Holm put the plateau front and center in this piece's shaping. (One begins to wonder if the thought of just using the briar's plateau for the rim of a pipe has ever occurred in that factory.) The wide front face of the bowl features the rugged plateau curving downward to the curved heel. The flanks are paneled in a convex kind of way. The shank sports spots of the plateau on bottom and thin corkscrewing ridges. It even sits, at two different angles, if set down properly. The chamber, deep and broad, completes this excellent package.
