When it comes to purity of Danish design, if there's one living artisan who could rival the great Sixten Ivarsson, it may well be Jess Chonowitsch. The first truly great Danish pipe designs were by and large creations wherein the beauty of clean lines and smooth, balanced form were paramount. Things later got a little crazy and convoluted during the Danish "fancy" craze. Today complexity is prominent once more, albeit in a far more thoughtful approach. Through it all, however, the foundation of the Danish school has still remained same, and it's in that foundation that Jess has always specialized. Put simply: it's beautifully clean, and cleanly beautiful design.
