Danish Estates: Emil Chonowitsch Sandblasted Brandy with Bamboo
Product Number: 004-001-5770
Emil Chonowitsch was the father of famed pipemaker Jess Chonowitsch, and though he never gained quite so extreme a level of renown as his son would, he certainly was no slouch either. Like Jess, Emil had Danish design down solid, and this spot-on straight Brandy is a fine example of how well he could handle line, form, and the balance of proportions. For example: The bowl is a tall one, with plenty of chamber, yet it's appearance is anything but imposing or heavy- just the right positioning of mass, just the right taper, and a smooth heel and transition keep it looking light enough to float away, despite being on par in size with a Dunhill Group 5.
