If you find a Skovgaard stamped a Lion, you know you've struck gold, as they are designated for only his best pipes. It's well-deserved here in this graceful piece, starting at the turn-based stem adjoining the flaring face of the shank, down its lyrically gesturing arch, and puffing out into a broad and low-slung bowl. It may not look it, but this pipe is a profoundly tactile experience that, of course, includes a perfectly comfortable grasp, further accentuated by its rather understated sandblast, but even more so by the pleasant weightiness balancing between the bowl and its slightly heavier shank. An all around great piece. I don't see this one sticking around the site for very long.
