Though, until quite recently, I was unfamiliar with the pipes of Ib Loran; Adam is a fan. Between Davis' infectious enthusiasm and the fact that he actually knows what he's talking about, I have become a fan as well. Loran started making pipes in Denmark in 1955, eventually becoming one of the senior carvers for Pipe-Dan. That talent and experience really shines in this lovely Acorn. The shape is lithe and quite representative of the Danish work of the era. A fine grain provides universal coverage on the bowl and shank. Great stuff.
