At the age of ten, Jorgen's pipe making education started at the factory that his father Viggo Nielsen owned at the time, the first year spent mounting bowls and stems (over 500 a day!) - in his own words, "hard work". His real talent, however, showed itself to be sanding and polishing, which he later transitioned too, finishing off the high-grade model "Bari Viking", before it was exported to the United States. I feel that when he finally "joined forces" with his brother Kai to build up their German mark, that his finesse for surface finishes carried through. Take for example, this smooth bent Dublin, sporting a exquisitely done contrast stain, immaculate polish - and that's not to exclude the wonderful shape.
