Danish Estates: Tom Eltang Sandblasted Cobra (Saturn)
Product Number: 004-001-6691
On the rare occasion when the subject turns to the Cobra shape, I tend to think of Peter Heeschen; off the top of my head, he's really the only pipe maker I can recall who does one on a fairly regular basis. Coming upon this sandblasted serpent from Tom Eltang was a bit of a surprise, I mean the man rarely goes near the bent Egg shape so I wasn't exactly anticipating seeing an execution of its more exotic cousin from the legend. Hailing from the era during which Tom, in addition to the long-present Snail Grade, used planet names for his grading system (2002-2008), this Saturn boasts a heavenly host of blasted birdseye on the front of the bowl, and an epicenter of the same on the back, from which a ring pattern radiates outward.
