About This Pipe
Celius pipes have become highly collectible in recent years, and it's no surprise. The sitter here is deftly shaped, and is made up of elegantly shaped briar with a crest on the upper junction. While not stamped, the gold accent is something that is very laborious. A band of gold must be cut, laid flat, and small pieces must be laid on top to be properly bonded with gold flux - something for the skilled metal smith. The pipe does not take a cleaner, however, so that might prove difficult for some collectors.
