About This Pipe
The '228' Stanwell dublin shape is all too often overlooked. It's really an extraordinary take on the classic English dublin, but possesses elements that are unmistakably Danish. I actually don't know who designed this shape for Stanwell; it's possible that it is one of the few shapes that Stanwell regularly makes that was designed by someone at Stanwell as opposed to one of the big name Danish pipe makers. Regardless, the slight cant to the bowl and the oval shank just set the shape apart. It's particularly fetching presented here in the black sandblasted finish, contrasted by the zebra wood ferrule, that characterizes this series.
