I walked into Eric's dark corner of our basement, where he works, to ask him about this pipe. I had to re-light my candle a few times just trying to find him. Once discovered, I asked him about this "oak" stamping. On his desk was a Randy Wiley pipe that is stamped "oak" and it's textured like a tree. Curious as to why this pipe that is made from briar and stained a color unlike oak would be titled such, Eric quoted Monty Python about it being "such a woody word". Works for me.
