English Estates: Dunhill Root Briar (835) (ODA) (U.S. Pat) (1943)
Product Number: 004-002-6763
Examples of the Dunhill ODA don't exactly grow on trees, and yet somehow we managed to turn up two within just a few weeks of each other. And both cross-grained "835"s at that. While the previous example
had better grain, this WWII-era one wins when it comes to vintage, hands down. Along with creating this particular pipe, other things the British were up to in 1943 include capturing Tripoli, the construction of the Mk. I Colossus Computer, the invasion of Sicily, and the births of both astrophysicist Dame Jocelyn Bell and of actress Wendy Richard
