Being a pre-1975 Dunhill, this briar still bears the older, rather less systematic Dunhill shape stamping, which was sometimes numeric, sometimes indicated by letters (an Oom-Paul was, for example, "HU", for Hungarian - Dunhill's own name for the shape). I mention this because the thing is, I can't seem to find a reference for the "705" shape anywhere - we've never had one before, and it doesn't appear in any old Dunhill catalogs I can find images from. On top of that, there doesn't seem to be any contemporary Dunhill equivalent of this shape either. Though technically a straight Billiard, the trim, smooth taper of the bowl, as well as its notable bit of cant, suggests Dunhill was aiming for something halfway between the classic straight Billiard and the Belge, sleeker and lighter looking than the former, but still more reserved and poised than the latter. Personally, I think they did a sound job of it, so it's a shame the design is (evidently) no longer extant.
