This Caratan's originally came to us with the barest remains of the registration number stamping on the stem, which was lost during the restoration process. Note to pipe makers: don't put important stamps on a part of the pipe that is going to be regularly buffed or polished over the course of years, such as a vulcanite stem. All that aside, this is big, grandly broad briar, and in a rather unusual shape at that. I dug around, but in the end failed to find another example, or catalog picture, of this spur-heeled straight Dublin.
