Barling Smooth Pot with Silver Army Mount (52779) (1966)

Product Number: 004-002-8123

The story goes that the transitional Barling pipes were made with wood with less age than their pre-transition counterparts. Whatever the actual "in-ground" age differences might have been, this pipe has plenty of age now and was made before my parents were even out of high school. The silver mount is very nice and the stems look identical to the older pieces. Maybe they should have just stamped these "pre-moon-landing", "moon-landing-era", and "post-moon-landing". Let's say the pre-moon-landing was the good stuff, this would still qualify as old compared to what is made today. Of course, some people don't believe in the moon landing at all, Bear qualifying as one when he wears his tinfoil hat. Sometimes we just don't let him touch anything.
