Before Dunhill began to use stars to grade the coveted "DR" briars, ascending letters, from A to J were used to rank the marque's finest specimens. The elegant Root Briar before you was produced the last year before the grading system was officially changed. To put things into perspective, a DR "F" would be the equivalent of a modern six star(!). To say that a Dunhill with grain as fine as this is rare, would be a massive understatement.
