About This Pipe
Sometimes a fat bowl doesn't pair well with a pencil-thin shank. The reason this works so well here, is that the bowl is squat, and therefore doesn't seem so abstract from the rest of the piece. If you have never filled up a bowl this size with Virginia tobacco, I highly suggest you do!
