About This Pipe

We thought it was quite a find when previously received another pipe just like this, dated to 1943. But as far as vintage goes, this second example, made in 1914 (at least the silver band is hallmarked such), and later 'upgraded' for a member of the class of 1917. well, how many 99-year old pipes still look this good? How many 99-year old anythings? but, class of what? Well, on that matter we're still not sure, though we reason students of either Purdue or Princeton to be the most likely source of these silver-banded and silver-lettered rarities. The "Prima" was the top grade, and Comoy's rarely stamped grades on their pipes during the war years between 1914-1918. Rare indeed!
