French Estates: J. Sommer Meerschaum Smooth Bent Opera with Silver and Amber Stem (with Case) (early-1900s)
Product Number: 004-003-1122
Outfitted with a dashing mount of fine sterling silver, and finished with an amber stem, this J. Sommer cased meerschaum opera pipe hails from a time when aviation was still in its infancy, and the number of automobiles had just passed that of horses in urban areas. It's easy to imagine a gentleman of that era pulling this treasure out of his vest pocket, for a quick between-the-acts smoke. This beauty is also a pleasant reminder that a well cared for pipe can be an heirloom - passed from a present caretaker, to a future guardian. Reminders can often be a fine thing.
