New!  German Estates: Cornelius Manz Sandblasted Bent Apple (BC) (2004)

Product Number: 004-005-3392

Though at first glance it seemed to me that Cornelius Manz was taking a lot inspiration from the Danish when shaping this briar, a closer look reveals a well-balanced asymmetry in both this design's bowl and shank that suggests a Hiroyuki Tokutomi influence. The tweaking of the shape into a "balanced asymmetry", though, is more subtle here than most of Tokutomi's renditions of that theme. It's furthermore made even more understated by the simple style of finish, a medium-depth black sandblast (polished only at rim and shank face) which simultaneously keeps the presentation simple and injects a good bit of organic texture into the mix.
