New!  German Estates: Jopp Smooth Bent Pot (***)

Product Number: 004-005-3390

Uwe Jopp is one of only two pipemakers that I know of who possess setups for achieving perfectly smooth, continuous drilling along a curve, the other being the Ser Jacopo workshop. Uwe developed his own tooling and technique independently, and while in both their cases the ability to drill smoothly curved smoke passages allows for both more freedom in design and for easier cleaning (as a pipe-cleaner will pass through with ease), in Jopp's case he also particularly notes that this technique helps retain more substance to both the transition, and the edges of the drafthole, helping to ensure a briar is less likely to suffer damage to either, whether by mishap or frequent smoking down tot he very bottom of the chamber. As you might well guess by looking at the profile of this sharp, bold, sweeping modernist rendition of the bent Pot, it does, indeed, make use of Uwe's own special technique.
