With many artisanal carvers rusticated pipes make up their more basic works. Such is definitely not the case here, with this piece by Manuel Shaabi. He's was very specific in the technique used to rusticate the surface, complementing the underlying form beautifully via radial patterns along the flanks and lines of knobbed beading taking the place of the smooth edges that would typically border each face on a polished-finish rendition. On top of that, the way Manuel handled the cumberland of the stem is is simply gorgeous as well.
