German Estates: Joura Smooth Billiard (C)

Product Number: 004-005-4066

It's a simple theme, the Lovat, and it's rendered in quite a large scale, but as expected it just wouldn't do for Karl-Heinz Joura to let anything come out clunky or unrefined in detail. A subtle, few degrees worth of curve to the line of the underside, a smooth, perfect little slope at the top of the transition, an easy taper to the stout shank and a nice bit of lift to the heel of the broad and capacious bowl; the little details here and there really add up, and can make even a briar as towering and substantial as this come off graceful. And of course, Karl didn't skimp on anything when it came to the grain, either.
