The established way of doing a Blowfish is, smooth pipe, cross-cut, birdseye presented on panels to either flank, typically with a fair bit of assymetry. As the Blowfish was itself born of bucking established shaping trends, however, it makes perfect sense for artisans to buck the established way of doing the Blowfish itself. And that's just what Reiner Thilo did here. Asymmetry? Thilo's eliminated the right panel entirely. Presentation of birdseye? Thilo's made it all the bolder by concentrating it entirely on the left flank, and I mean all
of the left flank, which is highlighted by covering everything else in a crisp black sandblast.
