Functionality is of the utmost importance when it comes to pipe design. Pipes are made to be smoked, after all. Striking beauty aside (we'll get to that), this Duck's Foot is easy in the hand, and easy in the jaw thanks to the expertly-cut stem (which features a stainless steel tube in its tenon for durability) and lightweight bamboo shank (equipped with a brass reinforcement ring). Clearly, a lot of thought went into the engineering, but what earned the "A" grade? Aside from the deft shaping, the grain is absolutely stunning. The front-to-back cross grain displays tight flame grain along both flanks of the bowl and although the back of the bowl is no slouch, the fore is teeming with fine, smokey birdseye. Oh, and did I mention that it's as graceful as it is sturdy when sitting?
