While the quality of his rusticated and sandblasted finishes is well known, there's a great deal to be said of Tom's smooth finished briars as well: they always seem to sport excellent grain. This rather Danish looking bent Dublin is no exception. In a dark contrast stain, licks of flame leap up all around the bowl approaching vertical grain in some areas; while the intricate display of birdseye across the wide rim and heel is some of the best I've seen. Topped with a horn mount to accent, it's quite a handsome composition from the German carver.
