Irish Estates: Peterson Aran (B5) (Fishtail)
Product Number: 004-004-2310
The most famous of the Peterson Bulldog shapes is undoubtedly the '80S', but I submit to you the 'B5' for consideration. Yes, it's of decidedly different proportions - from the ratio of the area above the double beading to the area below it, to the size of the shank relative to the bowl - and to call it a classic would be a bit of a stretch, which is to be expected descending from the 'B' line (which is, more or less, a collection of what you could call "odd-ball" shapes). What really sets the 'B5' apart from other Bulldogs is its blend of Bulldog and Calabash forms - which, combined with a classic stain, variance in grain, and hunk of engraved sterling, renders it quite handsome.
