Mention the terms "master" and "Italian school", and the first name to come to my mind will always be Claudio Cavicchi. Master artisan though he may be, however, even Claudio turns to the classics as particular challenges, and the Lovat especially. As such, it say something about the man, and how he became a master pipemaker, that it's that very shape that is his personal favorite. It was only fitting then that when he made or tenth anniversary pipes a few years back, he made them as a series of Lovats - and very, very fine ones at that.
