About This Pipe

The "Meteora" is an aptly named hunk of briar, obviously etymologically related to "Meteorite", translated from Greek it means "middle of the sky", or most appropriately "suspended in the air". I say appropriate, because this bent Ball does share a bolide's illusion of near weightlessness, by the way it effortlessly drops and hangs from its fully bent saddle stem. If one were to succumb to the weight of this briar, letting it balance itself naturally in the jaw, extra support may not be needed.but I wouldn't recommend it. Where the name does delineate, is the less than organic, geometrically patterned furrows, overlaying the rusticated surface, probably made with a narrow grinding wheel or hand-chisel--an interesting interpretation seen in many pipes of the Ardor series.
