About This Pipe
Tonino Jacono has been making pipes in in Jesi Marche, Italy for over two decades, and grades his pipes in accordance with the relative point value of individual pieces of a chess set (Knight through King, with "Checkmate" awarded as a suffix for larger size). While a great deal of traditional Northern Italian influences are in play with this briar, there is an additional, subtle sophistication that lurks within the rounding of the bowl. At $110, I find myself liking this one.
