New!  Japanese Estates: Tutom Original Fukashiro Make Smooth Blowfish (E)

Product Number: 004-007-0479

Tsutomu Fukashiro is one of those pipemakers who is widely-known in his native land for good reason, but whose name in other lands may leave even experienced collectors scratching their heads. Although he's typically mentioned as being one of the most strongly Danish-influenced of the Japanese artisans, you might not guess it looking at this compact, subtly organic Blowfish, which displays a discrete dose of the distinctly Japanese "balanced asymmetry" of design that was most famously adapted into pipemaking by Hiroyuki Tokutomi. "Discrete", I say, because Fukashiro has applied it with a light touch here, keeping the shape overall tightly controlled within this solid, compact shape.
