This is a bit of an unusual little number for a Tokutomi. For one thing, it's an Acorn, and we've never seem more than about a dozen Hiroyuki Tokutomi Acorns over the years. For another, the shaping itself is a curious combination of Tokutoki's organic "balanced asymmetry" style, and something sharper and modern, with the former dominating the form of the bowl, and the latter dominating the shank and underside, yet also with both both blended smoothly together overall. But design aesthetics aside, it's also quite simply a nice and handy little briar that sits well, and also happens to sport a lush, turbulent flame grain that plays well to the twist and flow of the shape's lines and gesture.
