Bear's assessment of this carved meerschaum went something along the lines of, 'thematically nonsense, but very well done
'. I suggested that the lush foliage and pair of horses may have been inspired by the old myths of leviathans so vast that sailors mistook them for islands. It stands to reason that horses and trees could be just as fooled, too. Either way, it's definitely one of the most interesting meerschaums I've seen in quite some time.
