Thomas Howard was, evidently, a radio personality who, for some reason, turned to making pipes in 1939. A Wikipedia search didn't turn up any mention of his radio career, though that disappointment was somewhat softened by the discovery of the staggering number of British earls and dukes who've gone by the same name (including all of the second through fifth dukes of Norfolk - and the eighth one as well). Anyway, Tom Howard the Non-Duke (a distinguishing title, as it turns out, ironically) seems to have liked his pipes quite robust - or at least he certainly liked this one that way. Make no mistake, this bold-heeled, big-chambered briar may hang from the jaw with ease, but it's certainly no featherweight when it comes to substance.
