Jody Davis's work is some of the most desirable around, but as his main career is that of a traveling musician, he only produces a small number of briars each year. This, of course, makes the competition all the more keen whenever his artisanal pieces to do crop up. And in this case it's a solid little number; a handy, yet capacious Billiard with proportions bordering on Nosewarmer status. As expected, the lines and form are handled just right, keeping things nicely balanced in profile, and providing a nice little touch of energy through the upward sweep at the top of the transition, the subtler lift of the lower bowl and heel, and just a slight touch of cant to the bowl. As for the finish, the sandblast is as crisp as can be.
