Elliot Nachwalter is one of those artisans who has been making pipes for quite some time, but who has also taken some lengthy sabbaticals from pipemaking as well (though I do believe he is presently active once again). For those with a particular appreciation for his work, this can make finding estate examples a bit tricky - even we don't see them very often. That having been said, to my eye this is one of the best designs we have
seen, being generous and rounded of bowl, but well-balanced in profile, and with a very nice flow from the front edge of the rim all the the way through the transition, and right out to the bit. It's firmly contoured in hand, stout-walled, and offers up a quite decent amount of chamber as well.
