Randy Wiley has been making pipes since the mid 1970s. Now it's 2014. My math is a little rusty and my adding machine done broke way back before I quit school to help Pa on the farm, but to my reckoning this pipe was made fairly early on into Wiley's lengthy (and still ongoing) career as a pipe maker. And it shows here, too, in a most pleasant fashion. While this pipe sports the same sort of muscular magnitude and dimension for which the maker has become famous, and though it's rusticated as many a Wiley may be (he doesn't sandblast pipes; your choices are generally between smooth pipes or a variety of different rusticated finishes), there's something just different
about this pipe. It looks and feels like a Randy Wiley pipe. But like a Randy Wiley pipe from the 1980s.
