Rad Davis has really become a household name in pipe smokers' residences and I think the buzz is well deserved. He started a years ago shaping on a lathe and using preformed vulcanite stems, but within the second year of his production his technique really began to take a more hands-on approach. He began working on his shaping and smoothing his lines, softening the profiles and following in a very Danish lineage of aesthetic. This is just such a pipe.
Hand made and very Scandinavian in design, this shape feels great in the hand and bears an interesting grain orientation. Smokey clouds of birdseye grace the bowl on the smoker's right while straight grain rises up the on the left and shifts into flame grain along the front.
