Travers La Rue carved pipes for his own store, "Virginia Tobacco and Pipe Shoppe" in Langley on Whidbey Island, Wa. from 1972 until his passing in 1983. The only two types of heath he was said to use was either 125 year old Algerian or 150 year old Grecian (!!). A fine stack of a bowl presents two asymmetrical ridges on the rim, which run to the heel/top of shank, and yet this this presentation is quite hand-friendly and the physical balance is remarkable. Almost 11" long, crafted from 125 (+) year old briar, and in fine condition - if you don't want this one, I certainly do.
