Bruce Weaver is both a craftsman and an artist. Since he first began making pipes in 2006, he's continually improved his art. He began with loose interpretations of classic English shapes using preformed stems; however, in 2009, he began crafting fully handmade pipes complete with hand-cut stems. Judging by the saddle bit on this number, this straight Billiard comes from the latter works.
From the cylindrical form of the bowl, to the extra-deep chamber, to the thick, elongated shank, the proportions are classical and comfortable. It's finished in a nice sandblast that brings this briar's ring grain to the forefront - providing a rather natural feel in hand. All in all, it's a fine briar from the American carver - a fine addition to any collection.
