American Estates: Will Purdy Smooth Bent Brandy (A) (2004)
Product Number: 004-009-6259
As a self-taught carver, Will Purdy has a unique approach to shaping that leaves us all wondering how the heck did he do that?
. That same aesthetic is evident in this shapely bent Brandy - the first we've come across in both new and estates here at SPC. Its deep, rounded heel and almost Cherrywood-like stem placement lend the normally elegant shape a bold profile. Its trim, flared shank and flowing composition on the one hand seems positively Danish, yet on the other its distinctly Purdy in execution. Earning a solid "A" on his meticulous grading scale, the grain is simply remarkable with flame erupting around the bowl and shank complete with plenty of intricate birdseye patterns below. Topped with an exotic wood accent and combination stem, it's a unique composition that only Purdy can deliver.
