American Estates: J.T. Cooke Smooth Cherrywood with Aluminum
Product Number: 004-009-6264
J. T. Cooke is the name that most-often comes up when discussions of sandblasting masters come around. Even back in 2003, Mr. Cooke was leading the field in sandblasting due to his technique for tweaking out the grain without compensating the overall shape; however, J.T. shows us here he's no novice with smooth finishes either.
His choice of warm contrast stain naturally highlights the cross-cut grain orientation with bold patches of birdseye along the flanks and tight crossgrain running across the rim. With its canted heel, spigot mount, and flaring jet-black stem, this Cherrywood/Poker sports a unique dynamism that some sitters often lack. There is a tiny bit of rim charring, but for a handsome smooth finished number from J.T. Cooke, it's still worth every penny.
