American Estates: JHW Smooth Bent Dublin with Plateau

Product Number: 004-009-6338

Jack Weinberger (whose initials served as his marque's name) took up pipemaking after retiring from a career in law. He was influential in the development of the American freehand style and had a direct influence on carvers Mark Tinsky and Curt Rollar, to name a few. He made shapes that were very modernist, he made shapes that were fairly classical, and he made shapes that might have been easily mistaken for Danish freehands. This plateau-topped bent Dublin falls into the lattermost category, though it's nowhere near as wild as the Danish "fancy" pipes of the 70s and early 80s.
