American Estates: Kevin Arthur Sandblasted Panfish
Product Number: 004-009-6315
It's not unheard of for pipemakers to pull fanciful shape names out of thin air, but as it turns out, there is indeed such a thing as a panfish, and Kevin Arthur's design does do a good job of adapting its natural form into a simultaneously artistic and serviceable smoking instrument. Despite the flattened cross-section and prominent central ridge-line, this shape remains readily manageable in hand, while still allowing for both a proper chamber and more than sufficient thickness to the briar's walls. The wide flanks also, of course, make for great places to display the ring grain.
