About This Pipe

This pipe was created by Mike Butera a mere year after he thundered onto the American pipe making scene, with his first competition (and first award) in 1985. Collecting Butera briars is certainly one of the more frustrating paths a collector can take, Mike didn't exactly overproduce them, and they are a stone-cold bear to pry out of the hands of the men/women who are fortunate to own them. Here is a fine representation of his earlier work; an elegant, if bucolic, sitter that features Butera's exemplary rustication, sandwiched between a gorgeous birdseye on the rim and heel.
