For about five seconds after I pulled out this beautiful, elongated bent Tomato from Abe Herbaugh, part of me was wondering if I had gone crazier that a mudbug on a hot griddle. For starters, the size is quite generous (the longest briar we have received from Abe), the shape is downright gorgeous – Mr. Herbaugh ‘owned’ this form in what I consider record speed. The flow, the flawless tapers, the transition of the bowl onto the shank and the deft under travel of the latter (“it’s a cheeky monkey!)
, all wrapped up in a solid grain, and accented with the vibrancy of bocote. So why did I think I was a few hushpuppies shy of a fish combo platter?
Look at that price!
